Rachel DuPre Brodie (Pacific Business Group on Health) Rachel DuPré Brodie is the Director for Performance Information & Transparency at Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH). She works with prominent purchaser, payer, provider, and consumer stakeholder organizations to advance the quality of health care and put performance information to use for payment and decision-making. Ms. Brodie provides strategic leadership to manage and lead the methodological work for several statewide measurement and reporting collaboratives on health plan, physician group, and physician level performance. She is currently leading an initiative to advance the adoption and use of standard sets of outcomes measures, including patient-reported outcomes (PRO), in the US. The project will demonstrate the feasibility and impact of collecting and using outcome measures to support value-based contracting and payment, and it will develop consensus-based methods recommendations to address barriers to collecting PROs. This project advances PBGH’s vision that widespread adoption of PROs is central to improving care quality, reducing costs, advancing value-based payment and ensuring that the healthcare system is evaluating the outcomes that are most meaningful to patients. Ms. Brodie also oversees the Patient Assessment Survey (PAS), which annually measures patient-reported experience. Both initiatives advance one of PBGH’s key strategies to accelerate transparency by publicly reporting healthcare ratings, educating the public about healthcare value, supporting consumer choice, and helping to drive improvement in healthcare.
Previously, Ms. Brodie managed the California Joint Replacement Registry (CJRR), a statewide initiative to collect and report scientifically valid data on the results of hip and knee replacement surgeries, including device safety and effectiveness, post-operative complication and revision rates, and patient-reported outcomes. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.
