Dialogue Session – Quality Measurement: Getting to Better Measurement of Patient Engagement and Experience

The central tenant of moving away from fee-for-service to value-based payment is to make the system work better for patients by offering more coordinated care that reflects patients’ values and preferences and makes patients equal partners in their care journey. However, without appropriate measures, the field is left wondering whether APMs are meeting these targets. This session will provide updates from providers, employers and patient advocates on efforts underway to collect data from patients, and applications for the data to improve patient care and experience. In particular, the session will explore the role of market-specific factors in the selection and implementation of patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures. The session will also cover approaches and processes that providers are using to collect PRO data for use in performance measures that matter to patients.
