Angelo Sinopoli* (GHS)

Angelo Sinopoli, M.D., Vice President of Clinical Integration and Chief Medical Officer, joined Greenville Health System first as a resident in 1982. After completing his residency here in 1985, he returned in 1987 as a member of the pulmonary critical care faculty. Dr. Sinopoli served as chair of the medicine department from 2002 to 2013, overseeing approximately 221 physicians in various practices, including medicine faculty and specialists system-wide, 40 hospitalists and the medicine residency program.

In his current role, Dr. Sinopoli is responsible for leading the development and implementation of healthcare delivery initiatives involving clinical integration, with particular emphasis on outcomes to include quality, access, efficiency and related physician alignment necessary for GHS to function as a highly integrated delivery system with 1,000 providers. Under his leadership, GHS and other health systems are developing a regional clinical integration network. This role includes leadership regarding care coordination/management, as well as development of programs for population health and business health initiatives.

Dr. Sinopoli is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of several professional societies, has authored numerous abstracts and journal articles, and presented at multiple conferences. He holds a professorship position at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and has earned several teaching awards.

Dr. Sinopoli earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of South Carolina and a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Following his internship and residency at GHS, he completed a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
