William E. Golden, M.D., is Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Medical Director of the Arkansas Office of Health Information Technology, the state health information exchange. Previously, he served as Medical Director of Arkansas Medicaid where he was the clinical lead for the program’s nationally recognized, multipayer paymentreform initiative. Previously, he served as the Vice President for Clinical Quality Improvement of the Arkansas Quality Improvement Organization and designed numerous statewide quality improvement projects. A past chair of the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Golden served four years on the Board of Directors of the National Quality Forum and is a past President of the American Health Quality Association. He served on the Guiding Committee of the CMS Health Care Payment Learning Action Network and co-chaired its Primary Care workgroup. Dr. Golden received an A.B. from Brown University and his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine training at Rush Medical Center in Chicago.
