J. Mac McCullough, PhD, MPH is Deputy Director of the National Safety Net Advancement Center (SNAC), Assistant Professor in the School for the Science of Health Care Delivery at Arizona State University, and Health Economist for Maricopa County (AZ). As SNAC’s Deputy Director, Dr. McCullough works closely with over 50 safety net organizations involved in payment reform efforts across more than 30 states. He is actively involved in research regarding the structures and financing of organizations promoting population health and Current research includes the analysis of integration of acute care, primary care, and behavioral health insurance coverage for a Medicaid population in Arizona. Dr. McCullough has served as Principal Investigator or Co-PI on grants totaling more than $1.5 million and has published his findings in Health Affairs, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and Health Services Research, among other venues. He completed his PhD in health services at UCLA, his MPH at the University of Minnesota, and his bachelor’s degree at Georgetown University.
