Cassidy Tsay* (CAPG)

Vice President, Business Development, California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG)

Dr. Cassidy Tsay is currently the Vice President of Business Development for CAPG which is the leading U.S. trade association for and the voice of accountable physician organizations.  Her strong medical background brings a uniqueness in overseeing the recruitment of new physician organization members that are working in or moving toward value-based payment models.

Dr. Tsay graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Tsay’s medical career includes both as an office- and hospital-based physician with Bristol Park Medical Group and later with Kaiser Permanente.  At Kaiser she reorganized the Child Abuse Committee to include domestic violence and elder abuse – recognizing the importance of helping everyone affected by violence.  It was also during this time that she decided to pursue a MBA degree at UCI Paul Merage School of Business to enhance her administrative skills.

After obtaining her MBA, Dr. Tsay joined the Nautilus Healthcare Management Group to be the Medical Director for Greater Newport Physicians, IPA.  She managed more than 170 Primary Care Physicians and 400 specialists.  There, she executed strategies and tactics to improve the coordination of care throughout the continuum- providing the right care for the right patient at the right time.  Just name a few, they developed a Transition Clinic, Diabetes Center, and an Outpatient Palliative Care during the 5 years she was there.

Just prior to her current CAPG role, Dr. Tsay worked at Blue Shield of California as their Regional Medical Director.  She worked directly with physician organizations and hospitals to improve their utilization and quality performance.  She was also the physician lead for their Narcotic Safety Initiative to educate providers on safe prescribing of narcotics.

Dr. Tsay recently discovered the love of running.  She has completed many 5K/10K races as well as finishing her first half-marathon with her husband this winter.  She has aspiration to complete more half-marathons.
